“The American Eagle”

Oil on Wood
The Bald Eagle is arguably the most iconic animal in all of the United States. It represents power, grace, and the indomitable wild spirit within all of us. It's also a shining symbol of American conservation.
Once abundant throughout North America, the population of bald eagles plummeted in the mid 1900's. All of America came together to save these birds. In a bi-partisan effort, not only was the bald eagle protected under the endangered species act, but thanks to research biologists, the main cause of their decline (DDT) was identified and banned. Since 1963, their population has increased from 487 nesting pairs to well over 40,000 today.
The bald eagle is more than just our national bird, it represents an idea: that when it counts, people can come together and protect what they believe to be important. This painting was created with that in mind.
Today we are in the midst of an unprecedented loss of species, primarily due to human actions – and in-action. This year, The Creative Animal Foundation is crossing the United States to educate and inspire others to stand up for nature and do their part to protect the ecosystems that we all share by taking personal responsibility for our daily actions as human animals.
This Fourth of July, we are celebrating our tour by launching our first auction. Of course, we thought the perfect animal was none other than the bald eagle.
100% of the profits will go towards our educational programing.
The Creative Animal Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, the money from the winning bid is tax deductible for the auction winner.
Original artwork by Creative Animal Foundation Co-Founder and Tour Host Timothy Davison. This eagle was photographed in May by Tim while canoeing in Mason Neck State Park just south of Washington D.C. It comes in a custom-built frame made by Tim from driftwood that he pulled from the Missouri River outside of Omaha, Nebraska.
